More Halo 4 details revealed

Game developers 343 Industries have offered up more info about the new Halo game, Halo 4, due out for Xbox in November.

According to a release from the company, the multiplayer for the new game will centre around the UNSC Infinity, the largest craft in the human fleet which is also the location of the game’s bonus campaigns.

The multiplayer experience will be tied to a spin-off campaign called Spartan Ops, an episodic series of missions playable alone or with up to three friends.

Each week after the release of the game, players will be able to download a short CGI video, providing a backdrop for that week’s Spartan Ops gameplay missions.

That’s not a bad deal – you finish the Halo 4 campaign, and then get shipped out extra levels every week. Plus you end up with a free animated series sitting on your Xbox.

As well as that, the multiplayer will take place on the combat deck of the Infinity, offering new game modes and tactics.

The aim is to improve the game for core fans, but also make multiplayer more accessible to newcomers by giving points for more than just melee, gun and grenade kills.

This new addition to the Halo franchise has also taken a leaf out of the Call of Duty series’ book, introducing modification systems that alter gameplay for the first time in a Halo game.

For those of you desperate for the full Halo 4 experience, the Limited Edition pack is available for pre-order today and includes extra maps, skins, and specialisations.

This latest instalment in the Halo series is intended as the first of three games that has been dubbed ‘The Reclaimer Trilogy’ – and will also herald the return of now iconic Master Chief as the main protagonist.

The game is set for release on November 6, and the limited edition will set you back $129.95.
